How We Score Confidence

No fabricated precision

We do not display a numeric confidence percentage. A number like "94%" implies a documented formula with real inputs. Until such a formula exists and is published here, showing one would be invented precision. Instead, every claim carries a qualitative band.
HIGH
Multiple independent, credible sources agree, or an official/primary source confirms it.
MODERATE
One credible source, or multiple sources that may not be fully independent.
LOW
Single unverified source, secondhand reporting, or conflicting information.

What the credibility assessment weighs

Source credibility (official commission > established journalist > promoter or fighter > general boxing account), the number of genuinely independent sources, whether primary documentation exists, agreement between reported figures, recency, and whether reporting is direct or secondhand. Promoter statements about their own events are recorded but are not counted as independent verification. A confidence band never determines publication. Editors do.

Automatic publication thresholds

Routine, well-sourced items can publish automatically in the same cycle they are collected. WIRE requires at least 2 independent sources, no detected conflict, a MODERATE or HIGH confidence band and fully resolved entities. BUZZING requires a Tier 1 primary source, no detected conflict, and that the item is not one monitored account disputing another. Sensitive subjects — allegations, disputes, injury or medical claims, legal and commission rulings, doping claims, and anything involving a minor — are always reviewed by a person. If more than 10 items qualify in one cycle, none publish and the batch is held for an editor.

The commercial scorecard and primary attraction

The No Picks commercial scorecard is not an official boxing ranking and does not measure sporting merit. It is derived only from stored, sourced data points: live attendance, gate, purses, viewership and public social following. With "Primary attraction only" enabled — the default — appearances where another fighter or celebrity was clearly the main attraction are excluded from independent drawing-power figures. Those events remain visible on the fighter's page with an attribution warning, because the attendance cannot reasonably be credited to them. Where a figure has never been made public, the scorecard shows "Not publicly reported" rather than an estimate.
